You’ve heard the old saying, “What you don’t use, you will lose.” As I have aged, the truth of this saying plays out over and over like a broken record. We have to keep our bodies moving to better be able to function without pain as we age. Fitness is a journey! It will wax and wane as we go through the seasons of life. If you find yourself “out of shape” compared to high school, then OK, assess where you are now by seeing a Dr. for a complete physical, specify your fitness goals, and make a plan to work towards them. Decide if you like working out with others or if you like working out alone. People who work out alone typically have a little more self motivation. The cool aspect is that these people find a way to work out anywhere! That’s ME!
I work out at home in my studio. I usually turn on an energetic playlist and do a HIIT workout for at least 30 minutes. Other times, I use Beachbody workouts which have been FABULOUS! I highly recommend Insanity and Insanity Max 30, as they will kick your booty into shape QUICKLY! If you’re on Facebook, you can find all kinds of workout groups that you could join to help you every day to keep motivated and keep you accountable. This couple, Derek and Kelly Germain, have been my coaches for a few years, and they are wonderful! They are both Beachbody coaches and love what they do! If you are not interested in Beachbody life, I can help you as well. Follow me on my Instagram fitness and wellness @comonbfit and my wellness page on Facebook for motivation! Be in touch if you want further coaching! I’ve been an athlete all my life, have “worked out” consistently since age 13, had the strong influence of my Mom who was a nutritionist and am fiercely into motivating and encouraging others towards wellness…
Another HUGE aspect of wellness and fitness is your nutrition. You want to eat “clean” meaning that you want to eat foods that are in the most raw state and that have not been processed. Lots of fruits and vegetable, high protein and lean protein sources, and increased “good” fats (omega 3’s and 6’s and less saturated fats) are what you want your diet to consist of. I will be posting a lot on all things nutrition in the future. As I said before, I was blessed to have a Mom who was a nutritionist! Her mantra, really in all of life, but especially in nutrition was MODERATION IN EVERYTHING. It’s been tried and true, and I have tried to live it in my 50 years!
OK, are you convinced yet? Ready to make that step into better fitness and health? Make that step in the new year and keep going! I will help you… 😉
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah – whatever you celebrate this holiday season, I wish you the utmost peace, love and happiness in your life.
